The Asia-Pacific Association for Machine Translation has recently published a joint article between Pangeanic's R&D team and Toshiba's Knowledge Media Laboratory describing a hybrid pilot for the development of machine translation technologies from English into and out of Japanese. The article has been co-written by Elia Yuste, Alexandre Helle and Manuel Herranz from Pangeanic and by Hirokazu Suzuki from the Corporate Research & Development Center of Toshiba Corporation. It describes the efforts and progress made with the statistical machine translation open-source platform Moses and Toshiba's rule-based system to obtain better outputs.
